Weekend of Winter Weather Bringing Snow

Posted By on Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 10:49 AM

A weekend of winter weather is ahead, with snow showers possible today at around 3,000 feet during the morning hours but moving up to the 4,000-foot range by this afternoon before another storm moves in Sunday.

According to the Eureka office of the National Weather Service, today’s snow accumulation will likely be less than an inch. The next system will bring rain and snow to the region and snow levels are expected to dip down as low as 2,000  feet, and possibly even lower in eastern Trinity County.

“This may bring several inches of snow to the highway passes on (state routes) 299, 36 and 3,” a Hazardous Weather Outlook notice states. The NWS advises travelers check conditions at www.weather.gov/eka/mountainPassForecast.

Sunday’s storm is expected to be followed by another round of rain and snow, with low snow levels possible.
