Red Salmon Complex: 103,276 acres and 20 percent containment.

Warmer temperatures and low humidity have returned making the fire more active than it has been in the past couple days, according to this morning's update. Along with the increase in fire activity comes an increase of smoke. Heavy smoke may affect Hoopa Valley this afternoon with some areas experienceing 'unhealthy' levels while the coast should continue to have 'good' air quality.

From the incident webpage: "Firefighters have contained the northwest and west sides of the fire from the Whitney Peak area on the north side to Box Camp on the west side. Along the southwestern and southern flanks, firefighters are successfully conducting firing operations and improving roads to protect the Hoopa Valley Reservation and the communities of Willow Creek and Denny. Structure protection in the Forks of Salmon area continues to be a priority while hand crews, heavy equipment, and firefighting aircraft continue to suppress the fire."

Slater-Devil Fire: 146,698 acres and 18 percent containment.

This morning's update states, "The Slater and Devil fires remain active as crews continue to focus on line construction and tactical firing. The northern zone is seeing more active fire behavior than the south, with warmer drier conditions in the forecast for today."

Highway 199 in the Northern California area remains open at this time.

August Complex - West Zone: 91,430 acres and 15 percent contained.

From today's update: "The August Complex has been split into three zones to effectively provide a response for the communities at risk. CAL FIRE’s Incident Management Team ordered the National Guard to assist with fire suppression efforts due to resource draw down throughout the state. Resources from across the state of California as well as Montana, Idaho, Texas, and New Jersey have been assigned to assist on the August Complex-West Zone. Some evacuation orders and warnings have been reduced. Overnight weather conditions have resulted in the fire backing down toward containment lines in some areas. The fire continues to make short runs within isolated interior pockets and burning operations near Lake Pillsbury are causing smoke to be highly visible. The August Complex West-Zone total fire line spans approximately 195 miles."
