UPDATE: Wildfires: Evacuations, Air Quality Alerts, 101 Reopens Near Willits

A series of fires in region are affecting northern, southern and eastern communities, with an immediate evacuation order issued for areas south of State Route 36 in Bridgeville and all communities along Alderpoint Road down to the Mendocino/ Trinity County Line due to the Hopkins Fire's rapid movements.
A temporary evacuation point has been set up at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Animals can be evacuated to the Humboldt County Fairgrounds (call 707-496-8841 for more information) and Redwood Acres is preparing to take in fire evacuees, both livestock and those who have an RV or are willing to camp.
The city of Rio Dell opened a water station in the City Hall parking lot, located at 675 Wildwood Avenue, for fire evacuees and their animals. The potable water will be available at any time for at least the next 24 hours, according to a release from the city.
An evacuation warning in Southern Humboldt includes the town of Garberville and was expanded Wednesday evening to include all areas west of Bell Springs Road to U.S. Highway 101 spanning from Elk Creek Road/Dyerville Loop Road to the Mendocino/Trinity county line.

RED SALMON COMPLEX
The fire grew dramatically to 71,610 acres, pushing to the east and south today, according to the morning update, with most of the expansion in the Trinity Alps wilderness. Several communities are in the fire perimeter and an evacuation has been ordered for Denny, with the Burnt Ranch School acting at a temporary evacuation point.
The update states that lines near Forks of Salmon and the Hoopa Reservation are continuing to hold.
HOPKINS FIRE
The westward movement of the Hopkins Fire, now near 50,000 acres, has prompted evacuations for areas south of State Route 36 in Bridgeville and all communities along Alderpoint Road down to the Mendocino/ Trinity County Line.
The Mateel Community Center at 59 Rusk Lane is open as an evacuation shelter and small pets on leashes can stay outside of the hall. For more information, visit mateel.org.

The Oak Fire near Willits remained at 836 acres and 10 percent containment, according to the Wednesday morning update from CalFire. U.S. Highway 101 remains closed in both directions going into a third day before reopening around 8:30 p.m., according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Department.
More than 400 personnel are on scene. The cause is under investigation. Two structures have been destroyed. For updates, visit, https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/.
