Two Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were pursuing a vehicle south from Eureka past King Salmon at 7:04 p.m.
One deputy told the dispatch that the driver in the vehicle he was pursuing slammed on his brakes and caused the deputy who was speaking to hit another pursuing deputy’s vehicle. This occurred near Hilfiker. That deputy dropped out of the pursuit saying his vehicle was damaged.
The dispatcher said that the driver called 911 and said "he is not going to stop until deputies kill him."
A spike strip was in place but the driver avoided and the pursuit continues past Palmer Drive.
UPDATE 7:16 p.m.: The CHP took over the pursuit and one officer reported to dispatch that the man pulled over by Metropolitan Road south of State Route 36 and surrendered.
