This just in: The General Plan Update (GPU) alternatives for the following sections have been released and will soon be subject to public debate: Agricultural Resources, Forest Resources and Public Lands. All of these sections fall under the larger header of the GPU's Land Use Element.

Sure-to-be-lively public hearings on the Land Use Element (featuring staff presentations on the key issues and side-by-side comparisons of the different alternatives) will be held on April 16 and April 23, followed by public testimony on April 30. If you'd like to get prepared for those shindigs, head on over to the County's General Plan Update site, where you can size up Alternatives A, B, C and D in handy chart form. Copies are also available at all Humboldt County Library branches, FedEx Office (formerly Kinko's) and the Community Development Services Department's front counter. Time to shape this county's future!
