Late Spring Poems

1.    the grass is as tall
as the horses'
       noses

Again.

2.    When tree trunks
       wrap around
           each other
       like lovers

       when the wind
        blows breeze in the thick
            of their leaves

              their
                      leaves

3.    which city --

           over the

       river way
       or over the bay
       Oh...There's only
         one city
         my city
         the city
       all eyes on fire
       its hair singed
       in the glaring night
       all those moans
         the deep wanting
       the memory of lilac gardens.

4.    wild sweet pea

I wait for you to unfurl
       your blood pink fist
