Eureka Sequoia Garden Club

The Eureka Sequoia Garden Club will meet on Friday, May 17, 2013, at the First Covenant Church Carriage House, 2526 J Street, in Eureka. The meeting starts at 11:00 am, with the program, and will adjourn at 1:30 pm. A potluck lunch will be held at noon. Refreshments and dessert will be provided.

This month’s program features Marilyn Kelly of Seaside Herbs. She will present “Herbs for Good Eating.” This will focus on the growing, using and saving herbs from your own garden.

From 10:00 am to 11:00 am will be the monthly Floral Design Workshop. The theme this month is “Celebrations” and features a floral arrangement of the designer’s choice. Each person should bring flowers, green foliage, driftwood, and a container to create the theme of their arrangement.

At 12:00 noon the owners of “Garden Jewels on D Street” have been invited to attend the meeting to receive Certificates of Recognition for their use of plant material, design principles and maintenance of their front yards. These landscapes were selected by Club members. Included are those of Anne Busby, Spencer and Dianna Clifton, Jack Hopkins and Linda Pozel, Rob and Cherie Arkley, Allan and Nancy Gruskin, Marge Custis, Richard and Jean Twiddy, Alan and Elsie Nilsen, Jeanine Norrish, and Ship’s Inn Bed & Breakfast, Genie Wood, owner.
