Rhody Society Starts New Year With Stunning Power-Point on Japanese Gardens The first 2016 gathering of the Eureka Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society is Thursday, Jan 28., at The Eureka Woman's Club, 1531 J St., 7 p.m. The public is welcome; there is no fee. Refreshments are provided. Paula Trinowskey's program, Japanese Garden Design, will feature photographs taken by her husband during a number of trips to Japan. Paula "will introduce some techniques that make Japanese gardens unique and so appealing to our eyes." They "recently returned from Japan where the fall colors added another dimension to the gorgeous gardens of Japan. Six hundred years of design and construction have resulted in gardens with an appeal that resonates with an inner part of our being...Everyone can have a taste of Japan in their garden, and this talk will serve as a travelogue and present some ideas that you can use in your garden" She will also "discuss various gardens in Kyoto, with a peek at Kenkouren in Kanazawa where they are readying the trees for the snowy winter." Don Wallace will provide descriptions and photos of the rhododendron plants that will be available through the opportunity drawing, and someone goes home with the rhody offered as the door prize.
