Ernie just posted this on his site. It scratched loose a memory and I went searching to find something I read earlier. Here is basically the same story with photos.
I’m thinking this link bounced all around SoHum – we both received it within hours. At the end of the story they note that it appeared in Arthur in slightly different form.
The illustrations are a slight improvement, and it’s a fun read, but IMHO SoHumBorn did a much better job of covering this territory, mainly because her tales came from within the culture. This is more reminiscent of the Humboldt County movie (but grittier) in that it’s from the perspective a short-term visitor.
