The Municipal Auditoreum started swinging early on Saturday with Stompy Jones, and then Joe Smith & the Spicy Pickles began to play at noon as the Swing Dance Contest began. -
Many in the Muni audience had flashback overload with the performance by Bishop Mayfield with Dave Storie (eft) and Friends (including William Mitchell, Tom Workman, Charlie Thompson, Bill Moehnke, Bridgette Brannan and Donna Landy). -
Saturday’s Redwood Coast Blues performances at the Municipal Auditoreum kicked off with another great performance by Tom Rigney & Flambeau. -
Danny Caron (left) played great lead guitar with Tom Rigney & Flambeau at the Municipal Auditorium on Saturday during the Redwood Coast Blues performances. They were followed by Terry Hanck with Jim Pugh and then Roomful of Blues closed out the night. -
An alternate choice on Saturday night included the Morris Graves Museum of Art for some jazz and swing music. The Dave Bennett quartet provded a Tribute to Benny Goodman as accompaniment for Matt Beard (right) who improvised with his “Live Art” painting (a fundraiser for nonprofits). -
Sunday’s Grand Finale at the Municipal Auditorium brought these line dancers out on the floor. -
Brett Young led the traditional Parasol Walk as Sunday’s Grand Finale wrapped up the 2018 Redwood Coast Music Festival at the Municipal Auditorium. -
Audience members cheered on their favorites in the Jack & Jill and Couples swing dance competitions. -
Avery Raven Skehen busted a few moves in his rainboots with his mother Malia Freedlund, of Petrolia, during a break in the dance competitions. -
A much larger crowd of women and men showed up this year for the Jack & Jill competition compared to last year (lead and follow dancers were randomly paired with a partner during the dance judging of the best lead and the best follow). -
Serena Hillis took a dip from her Jack & Jill dance partner during the competition. -
Brett Young received first place for best follow in the Jack & Jill competition (the dip move offered here by lead competitor Brain Smith), followed by: 2 – Jacinto Krouse and 3rd – Hannah Crabb. Best lead awards went to: 1st – Eric Recchi; 2nd – Brian Smith; and, 3rd – Cailen Holliday. -
