Vincent van Gone!
OK, it wasn’t by van Gogh it was of van Gogh, painted by local artist Rachel Schluter. But lame either way.
Press release from the Eureka Police Department:

On 2/5/13 EPD took a report of a stolen 2’ x 2’ oil painting on panel of Vincent van Gogh. It was painted in his impressionistic style by local artist Rachel Schlueter.
It was stolen on February 5, 2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. from the C Street Studios (Second and C Streets) from the wall of the upstairs gallery area.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of the painting please call Suzie Owsley at Eureka Police at 441-4325 ext 2#
This article appears in Unspoken Dangers.

Rachel Schlueter is a hard-working artist. To steal her painting is to steal a chunk of her creative life – the time and energy she invested in gaining her painterly skills, and developing her strikingly unique style. Not to mention the uncounted hours of her life spent creating this one painting.
This painting is out there. If you see it on someone’s wall, help them do the right thing: give it back to Rachel, so she can sell it to someone willing to pay for it.
More of Rachel’s works can be seen at the Sewell Gallery on F Street in Eureka…
You’ve got to be kidding? Right? This is breaking news on the Sub Standard and also in the esteemed NCJ?
Slow news day I guess.
