, went missing. Then, a few weeks ago, I find it sitting there on a bookshelf like it had never left.
My turntable is dead, but a friend ripped it to MP3 for me. Memories!
Tumours
is actually way better than the original, and it runs the gamut — from the Operation Ivy-inspired backbeat of “You Make Loving Fun” to the chaotic hardcore meltdown of “Oh Daddy.”
I’m sure it’s pretty much impossible to find the original
Tumours
7-inch anymore. It looks like it was collected in a greatest hits-type CD —
The Unessential Schlong
— but you probably can’t find that either.
The fair use doctrine says that you can only use 10 percent of a song — difficult when the longest song on the record is only 107 seconds. But this short extract from “The Chain” gives you a good idea:

Schlong is dead. And yet Schlong will never die.
I still have one of their tracks on double LP released by Lookout Records(color vinyl, too, whoa!) years ago. Nothing quite like Schlong and a good cup of joe:) I haven’t heard Tumours, yet.
The timing of the post is odd, since I’m in the process right now of testing out the waters for a Fleetwood Mac cover band. Something like Fleetwoood Mac meets My Blood Valentine. Slow, noisy, psychedelic and Stevie–I think it would go over well in Humboldt.
I’m not really a Stevie Nicks fan or Fleetwood Mac, but the concept sounds fun.
Woah, I have that 7″! One of the few that’ve survived the various moves. I’m having a tough time thinking the members of Schlong would give a sh*t if you posted a full song, but ::shrug:: haven’t talked to any of ’em in a good long while.
Daonut: It’s not so much the members of Schlong I’m worried about. It’s the fierce legal team at Bun Length Records.
