Google’s ongoing little-big stunt gets
another round of scrutiny
. The writer of the piece goes on a fair bit about how criminals might use the maps and snaps to burgle you while you were away…. He also refers often to the

which found that the Google bug traveled down more than 100 private drives in Sonoma County alone with that nosy camera, and says it had every right to do that. ‘course, there’s a lawsuit. And there’s at least one angry woman in Humboldt.

Google claims it was within its rights to take pics on the private roads, not the

  1. I don’t mind because when I look up an address, Google is usually off by several houses. My own home is depicted as being a half block away from its true location… and street numbers are rarely legible in the photos.

    When Street View debuted, the complaint process (to me) implied you were SOL if you wanted your home removed. I’m guessing that because of these lawsuits, Google added a “Report a concern” link in the lower left-hand corner of every photo.

    Today, the complaint form has an option labeled, “I have found a picture of my house and would like it removed.”
