About 2:09 p.m., a solo vehicle crashed on State Route 96 near mile marker 23. A woman received major injuries, according to a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol.

A helicopter responded to the scene to fly the woman to a hospital, the spokesperson confirmed.

For a time, both lanes were blocked but just after 4 p.m. the roadway was reopened. Caltrans was called to provide an absorbent for spilled motor oil.
