Mother Jones
magazine’s
story on the end of the timber war
in Humboldt, in the November/December issue, contains all of the requisite key words for a good local yarn: treesitters, sneaking, tofu, ruddy, mustache, glint, dash, fun, tree, old growth, chainsaw, Hurwitz, clearcut, Lorax, locked, crushed, wiped out, redwoods, debt, slow-growth, hug, happy, woods. Spelled Scott Greacen’s name fancy, but a decent piece. Cute headline, too.

Heidi Walters worked as a staff writer at the North Coast Journal from 2005 to 2015.

  1. That’s really funny, I did Wordle it at first, and the image was fun and all that, but then I decided just to muddle it instead. heh.

That said, Wordle sure is addictive.

  2. I love the Worlde!

Hard to distill the whole logger-tree sitter history into one medium-sized story – seemed to hit all the salient points.
