From the Humboldt County Drug Task Force:
On 05-15-2012 at about 0845 hours the Humboldt County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a residence located in the 800 block of Herrick Avenue, Eureka near the Pine Hill Elementary School. Agents located a sophisticated indoor marijuana growing operation in the residence. Agents detained two subjects who they identified as Christopher Edwin Roman age 32 and his girlfriend, Christinia Michelle Senzig age 22. Agents seized 863 growing marijuana plants from the residence that ranged in size from 4 inches to 3 feet in height. Agents seized 53 pounds of dried marijuana.
Agents located LSD in the residence along with what appeared to be psilocybin mushrooms. Agents located evidence for a butane hash lab in the residence. Agents located two composite knuckles , which are commonly referred to as (brass knuckles) for fighting. Agents located two explosive type devices in the bedroom. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit responded to the residence to investigate those two devices. Agents and the two subjects that were detained left the residence until the Bomb Disposal Unit responded. At no time were the surrounding neighbors in any danger. The Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit took custody of the two devices and transported them out of the area to be destroyed at a later time.
Agents noticed a possible fire hazard with electrical wiring associated with the indoor marijuana growing operation. Agents then contacted Humboldt County Building and Planning Department, who then responded to the residence. After Humboldt County Building and Planning Department inspected the electrical wiring they determined that it was a possible fire hazard. Humboldt County Building and Planning Department then contacted PG&E to have the electrical power shut off to the residence.
Roman was arrested for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of LSD, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of destruction devices and for the manufacturing of a hash lab. Roman’s bail was set at $500,000 dollars.
Senzig was arrested for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana her bail was set at $25,000 dollars.

OOOOOOPS, Idiots.
He won the felony jackpot. She’s too cute for prison, some burly lady will love owning her
Mmmmm…..he’s ripe for the picking, flex those buns! See you soon sweet boy smooch smooch!
Too bad this didn’t happen in Arcata, then Kevin Hoover could have an excuse to slander yet another life.
Fear not fellow citizen, there is an Arcata angle to this. She’s an HSU student
Whatever. Hoover is a disgrace to journalism. Copy and pasting a press release is a lazy approach to cultivating more content
If these posts serve no other purpose, they are useful for the way they draw the predictable pro-prison-rape comments from the supposed law and order crowd.
Yeah, state-assisted rape for growing pot — that’ll show them.
Hi, it’s me, Kevin, the bad, bad person.
Regarding law enforcement cannabis grow press releases. We post them when we get them, just like every other local news site. Then, if additional sourcing is needed and/or available, we do a story. Once the paper comes out, the post is revised with the original reporting added. You can find many examples of this on the website. If you can think of a better way to go about it, I’d love to hear it.
For those who argue that we shouldn’t forward information provided by police, a few things. These are public documents. Don’t you want to know what the cops are doing in terms of entering private property and detaining citizens, for whatever reason? Also, were we to arbitrarily suppress these public documents, one can only imagine the cries of “cover up.” At least with regard to us, you are always free to provide an alternate version of events or other criticism for publication.
For the gazillionth time slander is spoken. Libel is printed. If you are libeled by any print publication, obviously you should demand a correction at the very least.
The above blowback is nearly identical to that which we have received in the past for doing stories on corporate environmental pollution, irresponsible land use and development proposals, even cases of well-connected mucky-mucks embezzling funds. Special interests don’t like their shit reported, never have and never will. But that’s what newspapers do.
I rarely get through a week without multiple readers telling me how grateful they are that we provide the coverage of the cannabis follies – the busts, the dispensaries, the energy use, the environmental damage, the evolving legal picture, etc. So I guess we’ll keep doing it.
After covering the horrendous distortions that prohibition has and continues to create, my oft-expressed wish is for a rational approach to cannabis, and coherence in municipal, county, state and federal law. That would mean ending the insane, reefer-madness prohibition, obviously removing it from Schedule 1, and accepting the fact that MILLIONS of citizens wish to use this essentially harmless substance. Until that happens, and part of helping compel change, is reporting in detail the damage and strife that our ridiculous laws are causing. This, as much or more than the many pro-legalization editorials (like the ones I have been writing since I was in college) ought to wake people up to the idiocy of the current legal scenario.
I’m not sure it does any good to provide this sort of feedback, but there it is. If you feel like talking about it, e-mail or call me at the office. Thanks.
I e-mailed you once Kevin. You were hell rude in your response back
hella*
Unmowed yard, truck lifted 2ft+ parked in driveway, house smelled of pot every morning for the last two years, and is located right at the crosswalk on Herrick towards Pine Hill. I can’t believe it took this long!
I think the Arcata eye is for sale. What’s it worth, anyone know? I’d buy it just to shut it down!
Mark, hang tight. The Eye ceases weekly publication Feb. 14, 2014.
