A beloved North Coast holiday tradition returneth! For the first time since 2003, the Eureka Inn is home to a heart-warming, humbug-defeating, green behemoth. As mentioned in this week’s Dandy, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is today at 4 p.m. and will feature music from the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir, the Humboldt Harmonaires, the College of the Redwoods band and the First Presbyterian Church of Eureka Choir.
Resistance is futile. Christmas is here.

Huge crowd! You could hardly move in there.
What, green again? Bah! Humbug!
la la la la can’t hear you la la la la
Give it up, Savage! The chestnuts are already roasting!
This was a huge deal to Eureka, but as usual, the Journal couldn’t be bothered to even send a reporter five blocks from their office. Instead we get some random photo with almost no info.
This is such a disservice to Eureka that it amounts to telling us all “fk you, we don’t give a flying fk about anything you actually care about.”
To which we say, “right back at ya, Journal.”

Sorry, I think it was a Douglas Fir.
“We”?
Have you been to the Journal office? Really no reason to leave, what with the bumping electronica, day-glo trampoline, very hot cabana boys and an on-call team of expert pedicurists. (Heidi’s toenails are da bomb.)
As for you, Goff – as if you’d know a chestnut from any other sweet, smooth-shelled nut of the beech family. Bah!
Wasn’t the Journal the one who was giving the re-opening of the Eureka Inn all sorts of attention. Even trying to get McMenamins to partner with them.
