It looks like The Marching Lumberjacks posted this Kabuki interpretation of the
(Alleged) Great Arkley Shove
way back in October. But it flew right past us until a sharp-eyed loyal reader brought it to our attention a few minutes ago.
The pertinent routine begins at minute mark 4:30. Deeply unfair to everyone involved, no doubt.

Nice find. With an appropriate salute to Hurwitz to boot.
Sumo =/= Kabuki
WHere can one find the Sumo costumes?
It makes me proud to have attended HSU.
Hank, thanks for posting this! you are just gonna have to keep an eye on youtube. the MLJs have posted several performances. It’s always been a tradition to have satirical halftime shows, too. [however, time allotments to the band have narrowed, giving way to commercial needs..a pity] As a alumn of this band, seeing this makes me very proud. I once danced around in a 7′ cigar costume for a basketball halftime during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal…(-; The band continues to rock my world and that of others. Thanks for the mention.
the inflatable sumo outfits (with Elvis hats…look closely) came from K-MART!!! Football season coincides with halloween – so that helps.

Thanks for the notice.

Sometimes I wish I had joined the Marching Lumberjack, when I was a student at HSU. Back then, I was also a mom with a young child. Anyways, I would probably have gotten pneumonia performing in inclement weather. I enjoy their exuberance and musicianship.
