Friend of the Journal Jamie Ashdon snapped this photo of two urban ungulates chillin’ near Ampt Skate Shop in Arcata today.
Jamie succinctly captioned the scene on his own Facebook page: “Umm…”
Not sure how the fuel economy stacks up against Arcata’s bevy of alterna-transport like buses, electric cars, bikes and skateboards — or if it’s worth facing that slew of traffic on horseback (hopefully the ethos to the north extends that far south). Emissions are a whole ‘nother story.
And they’re not even the only hoofed animals making the rounds of that university town lately.

Finally Arcata goes back to the greenest vehicle ever known to man. Something that does not need to be manufactured in a foreign country, run on batteries or gas or tossed in the landfill.
Now we are just going to need a horse lane. Get those stinky cars off the road. Bust all those stopsign running bikes. Bring back the horse!!
Hell they will even fertilize the pavement for us so we can eventually grow community gardens where asphalt once suffocated the earth.
If Arcata is going to really go green we are going to need feed stations not gas stations. Hitching rails not parking lots.
these people left a big box of shit in the street. horses asses.
