You people are true idiots. Caving in to the few is just a sad state of affairs. Shame on all of you.
the reason Jews left the concentration camps is to never forget and never again .
Well if you are willing to change the name of the town based on the fact that it bears the name of a confederate general; then I think we should ask that the the mayor Mr. William Lee that he kindly changes his name. No disrespect intended toward the mayor but really where do we draw the line.
Leave history in the past. Move on for the future.
If this is the price we have to pay to stop the riots, it’s BULL S#!π
Come to America, learn the language, learn the laws, OBEY THEM, and live a prosperous life. If you don’t like it here, don’t change us, go back to where you didn’t like it originally, and try and change them.
We left this kind of crap behind when we left Europe behind.
Stand up for what is right and stop giving in with “KNEE JERK” reactions
This country is ripe for communism.
That’s what the academia retards gave us.
To the guy in the back, telling everyone to read their history books and shut their mouths… I believe this article is referring to the city council of Fort Bragg, CA. Maybe take a short break from those history books, and read a map.
For those who are reacting and commenting about the town being “Fayetteville”, and the military base being “Fort Bragg” (comment by “Barack Obama”):
STOP. Just… stop. Get some help. Do some research before you speak/type/comment.
This article is referring to the City of Fort Bragg in California; it is NOT referring to the military installation in NC, nor the City of Fayetteville, NC.
Honestly, I’m giving this correction with a spirit of compassion and care, not trying to shame you for what seems to be an honest mistake.
That said, don’t forget that you are better than this. You know how to research articles, and how to avoid unnecessary stress and strife… simply by remaining calm, and maintaining self-control, even when something ignites your passions for justice and accuracy.
Lastly (and again, out of a spirit of brotherly love and friendly correction), before YOU accuse OTHERS of being “ignorant SOB’s [who] can’t read their history…”, and tell THEM to “Keep *THEIR* damn mouths shut!!!!”; you may want to look in yhe mirror, and consider your own advice, and keep your own mouth shut before you speak out about things you’ve clearly misunderstood.
TL;DR: Right spirit/attitude; wrong location. Have a good day.
I think it is a good time for a positive change. It would avoid the confusion with the other Fort Bragg. The name Fort Bragg has nothing to do with the town today, it would be much better for building a future as a tourist destination. I’m offering a suggestion that’s much more pleasing to the imagination and actually has something to do with our town. How about Noyo Landing?
