First Returns Mirror State: The first wave of Humboldt county absentees are in, and they pretty much mirror the state results thus far — all the Schwarzenegger/Democrat initiatives get a solid rejection with the exception of 1F, the feelgood stick-it-to-legislature initiative.
UPDATE, 9:51 p.m. — First precinct results in — here — essentially no change.
This article appears in Meltdown.

it will be interesting to see if this result knocks any sense into our legislators. I expect they won’t get the message and will continue to rob the cities and counties of money, increase fees and taxes on the people, while refusing to constrain state spending and state employee benefits.
meanwhile, state pays $12 million to contractor at Alton interchange project for no work because caltrans placed a June 1 start date on paperwork by mistake and water quality would not let them change it to may 1 as intended. Contractor was paid (rightfully so) because of mistake of state in filing paperwork.
I thought we pay these guys allegedly industry standard wages (maybe for bay area) and great benefits to attract competent employees.
nobody was fired.
