One day after the EPD arrested an alleged Occupy Eureka protester for stealing a carafe of cream from Starbucks, things take a turn for the worse. The press release:

On 11-04-2011, Officers of the Eureka Police Department responded to several crimes involving subjects who appear to be affiliated with the “Occupy Eureka” group.

At about 8:09 am, Officers responded to the 5th Street branch of US Bank for a biohazard report. A US Bank representative reported that she came to work to find an unknown subject(s) had urinated and defecated in the entry way to the bank. This is the second occurrence of this type at US Bank this week.

While taking the biohazard report, the officer was also advised that a complaint had been made to US Bank by a customer concerning being surrounded and harassed by subjects from the “Occupy” group, when they attempted to use the US Bank ATM.

At about 10:04 am, the Eureka Police Department responded to the “Occupy Eureka” campsite at the Humboldt County Courthouse for an assault report. Officers contacted members of the media, who had been assaulted while interviewing members of “Occupy Eureka”. The media reported that while they were conducting an interview, an “Occupy Eureka” member stepped forward and pushed the camera man and reporter. He then fled.

Also recovered at the “Occupy Eureka” campsite was a stolen Walgreens sign which was returned to Walgreens.

The Eureka Police Department would like to warn citizens to be cautious when using the ATMs or banking in the downtown area of Eureka, due to increased aggressive behavior by this group.

  1. More and more I’m starting to question whether these local OWS folk are for real. None of the protestors in any of the other cities have assaulted the media — they embrace the media (it’s the police who assault people with cameras). Also, in all the other cities OWS folk have their own cameras, and cell phones and computers etc. There doesn’t seem to be a tech presence here like there is everywhere else. Why don’t they want to be on camera? What are they hiding? Who are they really working for? Are they trying to discredit the movement?

  2. Meanwhile, in Oakland, a second Iraq war vet is in intensive care after a police beating resulted in a rupture spleen. He claims he did absolutely nothing to trigger the police violence except be in the wrong place.

I would imagine that unless police leadership are complete fools, they are videotaping wherever police lines exist. Let’s see the videotape. My bet is it malfunctioned.

  3. I’d like to thank the Journal and Lost Coast Communications for repeatedly blaming petty crime in the area on the occupy protesters, with ZERO coverage of the peaceful protesters who’ve been there all along.

Why doesn’t Lost Coast Communications focus on the OTHER 99.9% of the occupy protest for a change?

Why doesn’t Lost Coast Communications adopt some of the protesters headlines as their own, instead of police blurbs blaming all petty crime in the area on them?

  4. I agree with Redwood Eagle. There is a long history of plants attempting to discredit peaceful protest movements in the U.S. The Freedom of Information Act has pulled up all kinds of wretched tidbits on that front. And though I believe some of the protesters in Eureka (and especially Arcata) may be plants shipped in from other places, I also believe some others are just douchebags using the occupy movement as an excuse to set up their tents somewhere quasi-legally. Every movement does have its douchebags (and its members who are just there to pick up chicks).

  5. It’s true, the FBI and some big-city police forces have a history of planting agent provocateurs to either discredit popular protests or to give militarized police squads the excuse to attack peaceful protesters.

  6. “There is a long history of plants attempting to discredit peaceful protest movements in the U.S.”

Leaving aside that the “agent provocateur” is mostly a bogeyman to help shield activists from the cognitive dissonance that most of their fellow travelers are worthless layabouts, I’m going to go out on a limb and say this doesn’t fit the MO of a Karl Rove plant. There are certain things that you can’t pay a person to do.

Occam’s Razor, kids. I know you’d like to think that all the Woodstock revivalists are racist violent Tea Partiers, but you’re belittling your own intelligence by suggesting it out loud.

  7. The people committing these acts are not with the Occupy movement. They are there to cause trouble so the media can attack the Occupy movement without discussing the issues of Wall Street crimes and how they wrecked the economy.

I presume these agents provocateurs are FBI COINTELPRO, as public defecation is usually beneath the CIA

  8. Occupier stole a coffee, but the bankers stole trillions of dollars from you. Good for them if they took a shit in the entrance way of the bank.

  9. Poke the shit with a stick. If there is no blood on it, it can’t be an occupiers. Because if it was an occupiers there would have been blood because it is the occupiers who are getting reemed in the ass by wall street with no lube.

  10. Note that one persons outlandish actions doesn’t represent an entire movement, and that crazy people are more noticeable than the sane people.

  11. People defecating in the park are likely cointelpro agents from the Federal Reserve Police (FBI) assisting the MSM in denigrating the OWS protesters.
The FBI works hand in glove with the ADL- anyone seen Abe Foxman taking a dump?
If you have the picture- you can sell it for about 50 cents.

  12. Probably leftovers from when the feds attempted to kill Judi Bari and her Darryl Cherney with a bomb and then pin it on them, claiming they had built it and were looking to bomb logging offices. Some people will do anything to stay out of jail…

  13. “Denial is not just a river in Africa”.

That pun is aimed at those who believe agent provocateurs are at work.

The OWS movement is made up of, by and large, naive people who are being led by Hate America types. Valid gripes have been submerged in Leftist hype. The movement has attracted all types of loons, freeloaders and criminals.

The events reported are a natural result of the assembly of such a crowd.

  14. Hit n’ run @ 6:02 couldn’t be more wrong. Beginning science, my friend.

Occam’s razor draws a line on the sand, hit n’ run is standing on the side of the 1%.

  15. These punks ought to be beaten within an inch of their lives. And if they complain they ought to be beaten some more. Scumbags.

  16. Buzz:
    “Hate America types”?
Like investment bankers, Tea Party types and Republican candidates?

Just the reverse. 1960s retreads and wannabees, Flea Party types and Democrats now in power.

My guess is that you have never been to a Tea Party and therefore know nothing about them.

  18. “We all know too much about the Tea Party, thank you very much.”

And I’ll bet you’ve learned every bit from the liberal media and the Democratic propaganda machine.

Didn’t you get the memo? The media are trying to say the Flea Baggers “are just like” the Tea Party. Well, almost. (cough)
