Around 5:15 p.m., the Humboldt County Drug Task Force pulled over a vehicle near the onramp to U.S. Highway 101 from the Miranda bridge.

According to Humboldt County Sheriff Sgt. Jesse Taylor, the vehicle contained about 5 pounds of heroin. Taylor responded to our request for information in an email reply, saying,

“I can confirm the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) served a search warrant on a vehicle stopped near the Miranda Bridge. HCDTF has been investigating a drug trafficking organization operating out of Bakersfield Ca. The driver was detained and found to be in possession of approximately 5 pounds of suspected heroin. We are trying to determine the driver’s identity at this time. Additional information will be provided tomorrow via press release.”

At least one other large drug bust occurred in the area recently. See here for more information on that one.
