Michael Kevin Robinson was born on June 28, 1954 in Long Beach, CA to Bette and Russell Robinson. He grew up as the younger brother of sister Shari, and lived a privileged life as the son of a medical doctor (osteopath) and Chief of Staff at Long Beach Hospital.
His mother Bette was a homemaker and later got into real estate. She made sure that her children learned proper manners, had a good education, took dance lessons, and dressed well.
Michael attended schools in Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, and Berkeley, CA and got his Doctorate in Jurisprudence (JD) and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1980. He started his legal career in Riverside, CA, and after moving to Eureka worked as Chief Assistant District Attorney under Terry Farmer for several years. After going into private practice as a defense attorney, he worked with Jeremiah Scott Jr, Roman Pavlich, Larry Killoran, and for the last few years with Dustin Owens and Laurence Ross.
For more than 35 years Michael was also an instructor at the Police Academy at College of the Redwoods in Eureka. He was twice chosen as Instructor of The Year and was very well liked by his students.
Michael passed away on July 26, 2026 in Roseville, CA after a couple years of declining health. Arrangements were made by Sanders Funeral Home; no public services were held.
He leaves behind numerous relatives in Ohio, where his parents came from, his sister Shari and her children April and Danny with families, former wife Benita and her daughter Jennilee and family, and his daughter Allyson from an earlier relationship, as well as his beloved cat Missy-Roo.
A great big thank you is extended to his kind and helpful neighbors for their assistance and caregiving over the last year, namely Donna, Liz, and Marlena, and anyone else whom we may have missed.
