Gary Ray Langdon. Credit: Submitted.

Gary was born on November 26, 1941 in an Albany, Calif. hospital to Lloyd and Elizabeth Langdon. He died June 28, 2026. He was preceded in death by his five year old daughter, Kimberly Louise Langdon and by both his parents. He is survived by numerous cousins. He was raised primarily in Richmond, Calif. and at various times until age 28 he lived in El Cerrito, San Pablo and El Sobrante, Calif. In April 1972, he moved to McKinleyville, Calif. with his pastor and the pastor’s bride and stayed with them for two years. After a second marriage failed, he moved to Eureka, Calif. in 1985 where he resided ever since.

Gary will be cremated in Humboldt County, Calif. and his ashes sent to St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo for burial in the family plot.

Gary is with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who, in later years, he came to fear, love, and trust in everything with his whole heart. There was a time after his daughter’s death when he was not a believer and in great anger he raised his fist toward heaven and challenged God to come down and fight him. A few years later after God’s grace embraced him, he would say of God’s response to that challenge, “He first loved me!”

In March of 1972, the Oakland Tribune newspaper wrote a half page article about Gary. The title sums the eternal joy that began for him in 1970, “He found Jesus Christ, his life changed.” Later, Gary came to understand and believe the scriptures — that he did not find Christ — rather Christ found him.
