Editor:

At a time when all the news about government seems so bleak, this is a shout-out to an organization that demonstrated efficient and empathetic service. That organization is: Eureka DMV!

I recently had two occasions where I needed to go the DMV. The first was having to remove my late husband’s name from my car registration. I unexpectedly felt emotional having to delete his name, as it felt like one more way he was being erased from my life. The staff kindly helped me through the entire process with minimum waiting time.

Next, I needed to get a temporary handicap parking permit. Again, kind, helpful, friendly staff checked the form, made one correction and got me the permit. I want to publicly acknowledge them.

The DMV office is also clean and modern. The building and most importantly, the staff, can serve as role models for how government can best serve us.
