Editor:
Despite recent appearances in these pages, I am not really much of a letter-to-the-editor writer (Mailbox, Dec. 26). However, I do believe a letter writer needs to get the facts correct, and try not to slant them too much. So, I feel compelled to respond to Mr. Brown’s letter of Dec. 26. President-elect Trump did not get over 50 percent of the popular vote. Trump got 49.8 percent of the popular vote and Kamala Harris got 48.3 percent. Which means, more people voted for someone other than Trump, than voted for Trump. He won more electoral college votes, but did not get a majority of the popular vote. That’s in an election where 36.1 percent of eligible voters decided to cast a “none of the above” and didn’t vote at all. Hardly a roaring endorsement.
I dearly desire that Mr. Brown’s hopes come true and Trump delivers good paying jobs, a chicken in the pot and two cars in every garage. ‘Cause I know if the “Eternal Abyss” opens up we’ll all be too busy trying to survive to call out, “I told you so.”
