My name is Andrew Hedin and I have lived in SoHum my entire life. I thought your article “When Weed is Legal” (April 2) was a very good article, but I was interested to know if anyone has studied the effects that legalization would have on Humboldt’s tourism economy. Would we not become somewhat of a new-age Amsterdam? We already have the strongest brand name in the marijuana business. Wouldn’t people want to travel up here from the Bay Area and elsewhere to experience the redwoods and the weed in a life-changing experience?

Just a thought that I haven’t seen anyone else address yet.

  1. Good point Andrew. That could be a real problem with all the increase in tourists up this way. What would the county do with all that extra tax money after they give themselves another raise?
