The Scotia Inn is under new ownership and reinventing itself courtesy of the folks who brought us the Humboldt Bay Social Club. Changes are afoot with the reopening of the planned ‘Scotia Lodge’ set for June. To make way for the new, the public has an opportunity to poke around and perhaps pick up a bit of history at the Scotia Lodge Estate Sale, happening March 20-21 and March 27-28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (free entry).

Inside the sprawling hotel, browsers will find glassware, Victorian furniture, antique lighting, hotel-grade bedding, commercial kitchen tools and more. Word is some of the items have been there since the hotel’s inception, going back nearly 100 years.

Masks are required and capacity will be limited according to Humboldt County Health requirements.

  1. Save yourself some time. I was just there, looking for a vintage/antique table. The prices for anything interesting were laughable! They were actually selling those sort of “captain’s chairs”, well used, for 100.00 each. I would have paid $25.00 tops, if in fact, I would even have these in my home.
