A Walk Around the County
Sheltering in place since March 11 has been a challenge for my wife, Sydney, and me. We’re both in “at risk” categories due to age and we greatly miss our daily face-to-face yoga classes, the gym and many other “normal” activities as we hunker down at home with only a once-a-week trip to the North […]

The hotel had already been open for weeks with guests at half capacity and plans were underway to […]
Community Responsibility
A friend of the Journal recently said that opening one part of the country — or one part of the state — amid the COVID-19 pandemic is akin to having a peeing section in a public swimming pool. The analogy is crude but accurate. We were reminded of this July 13 when, faced with soaring […]
Film Crews Coming to Humboldt with COVID-19 Protocols
At the end of June, the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission announced Humboldt was back open for the movie business. And while screens at movie theaters have once again gone dark in California, a pair of small production crews are set to film for a week each on the North Coast this month, with more scheduled […]

It’s the county’s largest case spike since a 15-day period that began March 24 — five days after Humboldt County Health Officer Teresa Frankovich issued a shelter-in-place order that confined people to […]
