Inked Hearts Tattoo Expo: Summer Edition brings artists from across the country to Blue Lake Casino’s Sapphire Palace Sept. 11-13, ready to turn ideas into ink ($10 each day). Friday and Saturday, the expo buzzes from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Browse portfolios, watch the artists at work or settle into the chair for something new. Tattoos are for strictly for those 18 and older. Piercing is open to ages 16 and up with a parent or guardian. Bring ID.

Fresh grilled albacore is the star of Trinidad’s Fisherman’s Feast on Saturday, Sept. 12,from noon to 4 p.m. at Trinidad School (free entry, $20 plate, $25 plate and commemorative cup, $40 plate and shirt). Plates come with fish straight from the Trinidad docks, coleslaw, rice and a roll, while live music by Anna and the Situation keeps the party moving. The day also brings the Dessert Cafe and an Artisan Faire at Town Hall, skate park action and refreshing drinks. Proceeds support local fishermen and the Blessing of the Fleet. Humboldt Botanical Garden turns 16 with an afternoon of food, music and art among the flowers during Gala for the Garden: HBG 16th Anniversary Celebration,on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 5 p.m. ($100). Young & Lovely provides the music while plein air artists capture the garden. Enjoy a luncheon with a bar by Ramone’s, barbecued Humboldt Bay oysters and champagne, as well as a silent auction, all while strolling the beautiful gardens. It’s a perfect way to spend a September afternoon in Humboldt and help support one of the county’s loveliest public spaces.
