Got a sweet ride? Bring it. Prefer to admire somebody else’s handiwork without worrying about fingerprints on the chrome? You’re covered, too. The 32nd annual Cruz’n Eureka rolls through Eureka, Thursday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Aug. 30, beginning with a 6 p.m. Poker Run at the Wharfinger Building. The benefit for Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods shifts into Friday’s Show & Shine with music and raffles from 2 to 5 p.m. on I street, followed by the Cruz thru Old Town from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday’s Car & Motorcycle Show fills Old Town with a street fair, raffle and Kid Zone fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with awards rolling out at 3 p.m. Sunday sends the weekend out in a cloud of tire smoke at Samoa Drag Strip with a Show & Shine at 11 a.m. and burnout competition at noon.
Cruz’n Eureka

Bluegrass, oysters and ocean views. Now that’s a Humboldt Saturday. Tunes in the Dunes brings all three to Humboldt Coastal Nature Center on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. ($40, includes one food/beverage token, $35 members). Local favorites The Compost Mountain Boys and A Banjo Makes 3 supply the music while guests sample ginger beer, cocktails, mocktails, Powers Creek Brewery beers, grilled Humboldt Bay oysters and seafood from Brett Shuler Fine Catering. Check out family activities and say hello to Bluefoot from Blue Lake Casino, then bid on local art, staycations and experiences in the silent auction. Guests 21 and up can also try the Wine Pull. Proceeds support coastal conservation, stewardship and free environmental education.
Tunes in the Dunes

Turn it up and drop in. Against All Odds takes over RampArt Skatepark, Saturday, Aug. 29, from 3 to 10 p.m. ($10, free for kids 12 and under with an adult). The all-ages punk fest packs 11 bands onto the bill, with Buffed, ARPH, Braintooth, Ratf*ck, Scam Likely, Canaille, Blood Compact and Reeking Slug joining locals Executive Order, Radical APE and Brain Dead Rejects. Between sets, hit the open bowl, browse the art vendors, join a skill share or connect with free community resources for young adults. Humboldt Roller Derby serves drinks to the 21-and-over crowd with ID.
