Step right up to the big top circus tent at 1275 Eighth St. in Arcata’s Creamery District for the Twenty Years of Wonder Gala on Friday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. ($50-$200). The Arcata Playhouse is celebrating its birthday (or close enough) with a Playhouse Circus Midway starting at 6:30 p.m., curtains at 7 p.m. and showtime at 7:30 p.m. Catch Bay Area clownery from Coventry and Kaluza, Flynn Creek Circus acts, local talent, live music, special guests and emcee Jeff Raz with founders Jacqueline Dandeneau and David Ferney.

Hit the streets to celebrate art, health and community at the Block Party on F Street on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. (free). The 600 Block of F Street between Sixth and Seventh streets in Eureka will be jumping with local art booths, performers, live music, art, wine and beer. Littles will have plenty to keep them busy, too, with the kids’ zone and face painting.

Tap in for the third annual Beer Festival fundraiser for Humboldt County Historical Society and the Clarke Museum on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Dell’Arte in Blue Lake. There’ll be suds from Powers Creek Brewery, Humboldt Homebrewers, Paskenta Mad River Brewery and Humboldt Cider Co. These can only enhance your dancing to live music from A Banjo Makes 3, Elderberry Rust Band and Rise & Bloom. Enjoy local food, craft vendors and performers, too. Tickets are $40, $35 in advance, $25 for designated drivers, $20 designated drivers in advance, and free for kids with a paying adult.
Beer Festival

Woof, it’s been ruff out there. Shake off your troubles and head to Woofstock on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Eureka’s Halvorsen Park. The Sequoia Humane Society’s annual fundraiser is a dog-friendly good time for good boys and girls with live music, vendors, food and drink. Who’s a good dog person? You are — yes, you are!
