Workers this afternoon were tossing junk into a truck from an alley-side window of the decrepit, former Old Town Bar and Grill building, finished off by Saturday’s quake. A hardhat monitoring the work from the ground said they had a ways to go with clean-out. He said they found lots of junk but also some cool antiques socked away in there.
The stuff shoved out the windows by black-gloved fellows looked like papers and files and such.
The worker on the ground said demo might not begin for a day or so. And then they’ll go inside, remove the supports and start folding the walls inward.
“No big wrecking ball action?”
“No.”

No wrecking ball? At the very least, they owe the city an old-timey TNT blast with one of those bike pump-style detonators.
I want to see all the ‘cool antiques’ they found socked away inside.
Or at least an old-fashioned LV ‘plosion (sans cheesy soundtrack): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEuc3NYHX9M
They told me it’d be weeks before they could start. I guess we’ll see.
Hey it’s at least giving someone a paying job
