Former First District Humboldt County Supervisor Jimmy Smith and wife, Jacque, presented Jack Mays with a resolution signed by the board of supervisors at Mays’ 2005 “Party in the Vineyard” at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. The event raised funds for Mays’ medical care after he was diagnosed in late 2004 with stage four kidney cancer. Mays and Smith have a special relationship as fellow cancer survivors. -
