The Times-Standard is reporting that the Fortuna Union High School District Board of Trustees will have an emergency meeting after an eight-hour negotiation session with the Fortuna Union High School Teachers Association about reopening the schools safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the report, the board voted 3-2 on July 28 to begin in-class instruction on Monday at its three schools, Fortuna High, East High and Academy of the Redwoods.

  1. Any Covid related illnesses or deaths that result from this terrible, unnecessary decision are then the direct responsibility of the Fortuna School Board and I hope the community holds them legally accountable.
