After sweeping the
Novato Knicks last week to open the summer, the Humboldt Crabs entered week two
with a head of steam and would continue to roll. The pitching staff opened the
week with back-to-back shutouts and the offense exploded, outscoring their
opponents 23-0 over those two games. Above all else, this week will be remembered
as the week of Adam Enyart. Let’s get into the action.

Tuesday night
the Crabs hosted the Humboldt Eagles. An Enyart walk followed by a Liam Forsyth
RBI double would get things going for the Crabs in the bottom of the second. Things
would stay the same with north sides matching zeros until the sixth inning,
when Adam Enyart would come up and hit his first homerun of the summer to make
the score 2-0, good guys. The Crabbies would tack on another in the seventh,
then a sloppy eighth inning from the Eagles that included two walks, a hit by
pitch, two errors, compounded with four hits for the home squad would lead to a
six-run frame to put the Eagles away. Crabs lefty Miles Oliver was stellar in
his first start, giving up no runs on two hits over six innings. He struck out
12 and didn’t walk anybody in a dominant performance to earn his first win of
the summer. The Crabs would roll 9-0.

On Friday night,
the boys would welcome the Fresno A’s to town for a three-game weekend set, and
they would do it with a smack. Local southpaw Miles Standish took the mound for
his second start of the year and he was locked in. “I felt good, I felt like my
velocity was up and things were working for me tonight,” said Standish, who
picked up his first win of the summer tossing five innings of four-hit,
scoreless baseball with seven strikeouts. On the offensive end, it was an
absolute barrage. The Crabs scored in seven of the nine innings, with a huge seven
runs slot in the
second, highlighted by Sutter Moss’ grand slam, his second homerun of the
summer. Brody Jacob’s and Kayden Kohlberg would combine for four innings of
scoreless relief, to earn the Crabs their second straight shutout. The Crabs would
strut their way to a 14-0 win bolstered by five RBI from Moss, three RBI from
Forsyth, and three hits and three runs from Keenan Morris, who has been the
ultimate table setter for the Crabs this summer at the top of the lineup. However,
the stand-out performance would come from Adam Enyart, who hit not one but two homeruns,
driving in three.

Saturday nights
contest would be a back-and-forth game that saw several lead changes and found
the Crabs trailing in the ninth. Cayden Lee would walk to start off the inning
for the Crabs. Parker Rogers entered the game as a pinch runner and would make
his way around the diamond behind a walk and a few sloppy plays to tie the game
at 4-4. Adam Enyart who started the game as the designated hitter, took the
mound in the eighth inning and provided three shoutout innings of relief for
the Crabs, striking out six.  In
baseball, when you are hot, you are hot, and the big situations seem to find
you. Enyart would come to the plate in the bottom of the 10th with the winning
run on second, and again deliver for the team, singling in the winning run and
also picking up his second win of the summer on the mound. Crabbies win again,
5-4.

The Crabs
continued their roll on Sunday. Zeros were on the board for both teams until
the bottom of the 4th. Keenan Morris would get things started with a single,
one of his three hits on the day. Morris would steal second and advance to
third on a passed bull before ultimately scoring on a fielder’s choice from
Cameron Sewell. Then, there he was again. Adam Enyart stepped into the box and
connected for his fourth homerun of the season. The Crabs put up three runs in
the frame and would tack on another in the fifth and two more in the sixth to
put the Fresno A’s in their rear view. David Zazueta had a quality start striking
out five over five scoreless innings. But the story of the week would be the
dominance of Enyart, who picked up two of the first seven wins of the year on
the mound and finished Sunday’s game hitting .450 with four homeruns and 11 RBI
on the season.

“We still have
a couple of guys showing up from school but our team should be at full strength
in this coming week, we are really happy with what we’ve seen so far from a
bunch of our new guys,” said coach Eric Giacone.

The
Crabs are back in action this week hosting the Stockton Pearls mid week before
kicking off a weekend slate against the Athletic Edge Express over the weekend.
After that, they will hit the road for a week as they start their conference
schedule.
