UPDATE:
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports the gunshot victim is being transported to the hospital but the individual’s condition was not immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
PREVIOUS:
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a man called 911 reporting he had been in a shootout with three masked suspects on Hwy 36 near Carlotta.
According to the caller, the suspects fled in a white Dodge when he returned fire.
The caller said that a friend had been shot.
According to medical personnel on scene speaking over the radio at 3 p.m., a 62-year-old man is being prepared to be taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the back.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies are responding to the report of a gunshot victim in the Carlotta area but details are limited at this time and more information will be released when available and appropriate.
