An earthquake struck about 8 miles west of Petrolia shortly after 3 p.m. today with a prelmimarny magnitude of 5.2, rattling much of Humboldt County.

Felt shaking in Crescent City
Obviously a number of novice homeschool teachers had just introduced the topic of “Geology” and seismic events and why they happen…– and they needed an attention-grabbing teaching aid.
I live on Hiway 299 13 miles out of Blue Lake at Lord Ellis Summit and it felt like my house was gonna shake to the ground. We had a Good One this time
No damage on 11th in Arcata. House just crackled loudly bout 2 seconds like a bowl of rice crispies. It didn’t even shake. It just shifted and “crackled.”
Felt the rolling under my feet first so I stepped next to my t.v. to keep it safe during the shaking. Nothing came off the walls or broke, but my front door came open and things were really swaying. California and Harris in Eureka.
Downtown Henderson Center very strong vibrational rolling that amped up or it was 2 earthquakes nothing notable fell.movement though.
