Anita Marie Stapp was born in Eureka, California to Marvin and Isabel “Peterson” Stapp February 29, 1952. She passed away August 6, 2025, in Cottonwood, AZ. Anita was a fifth generation of Humboldt County, CA.

Anita married Roy Alan Gibbs in 1971 and together they raised three sons: Andrew Alan, Marley Evan, and Kyle Joseph Gibbs. Anita’s grandchildren are Justus Kole Yingling, Ariya Reed, and Rory Joseph Gibbs. Step grandchildren are Myles Kayle Moser and Autumn Yingling. As Anita had special memories of the Grand Canyon, she wishes her ashes be placed in the Colorado River so she can travel through the Grand Canyon. Family and friends visiting the Grand Canyon can think of her.

Surviving siblings are sisters Tanya (Gene) Currier, and Rowetta Miller, and brother Brian (Karen) Stapp. Her husband Roy Gibbs, brother Aron Stapp, and brother-in-law Bruce Miller predeceased Anita.

Surviving nephews and nieces include Brad (Julie) Currier, Janine (Jon) Andre, Kevin Currier, Chad (Lynette) Miller, Jason (Holly) Miller, Cedric (Rachel) Miller, Jared Stapp, Charmaine, and Eli Stapp, Walt (Donna) Thomas, Cindy Thomas, Robert (Martha) Stapp.

Great nephews and nieces include Taelyr (Gade), Colby, Lucas, Bevan (Andrew), Kirsten (Andy), Sydney (Travis), Sierrah, Spenser, Sadie, Liam (Brandie), Sophie, Jade, Jeremy (Monica), Ashley, Dylan, Kelsey (Nathan), Brett, Stephen, Michelle (Kolton), Aaliyah, Ximena, and many more cousins and relatives.

Anita was employed for many years with Dr. Roberts at Pacific Implants in Rio Dell, CA where she was loved by coworkers.  She recently retired in June from Safelite Glass in Mesa, AZ where she loved her coworkers and assisted with gatherings of her friends.

Anita was devoted to her family, cherishing moments spent together and nurtured strong bonds across generations. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and the enduring warmth she shared with her children and grandchildren. Music was special to Anita. She loved concerts and her specialty was singing karaoke at gatherings–‘White Rabbit’ was her specialty. She is survived by many family members and friends whose lives she touched with gentle kindness and steadfast loyalty.

Humboldt County history held Anita’s interest. She was a past member of the Society of Humboldt County Pioneers, who will be celebrating 150 years in 2026. She is currently a member of the Humboldt County Historical Society and loves receiving their quarterly magazine.

In honor of Anita “Stapp” Diaz, her sister Rowetta “Stapp” Miller is hosting at her home in Fieldbrook on September 6 at 2 o’clock a Miller-style potluck Celebration Gathering of Stapp family, cousins, and friends.
