  1. I picked up a book in the laundry room at the Bodega Bay marina on my way to Humboldt a few years ago by Brad Thor. I read it as we sailed up the coast. It was about some US spy who tortured Arabs including putting cigarettes out on them, even on innocents he just wanted information from. “ Where is there a Circle K. Tell me now, feel the burn”. I could not believe that this guy was the hero. I have picked up and left a lot of books at marinas in my lifetime, but this book promoting torture went overboard when I finished it southwest of Cape Mendocino. I had never thrown anything but food trash and one big chunk of iron overboard in my long time sailing. But I did not want this book to get into the wrong brain. It was in my defense a highly biodegradable paperback. Sorry
