Editor:

The polling has changed and so has my mind. The risk of two Republicans making it to a runoff in the governor’s race may now be low enough to allow us to pick our preferred Democrat.

Influenced in large part by the recent writing of the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle, I’ve come full circle back to preferring to choose between Katie Porter and Tom Steyer. Steyer’s lack of experience and overreaching promises seem a gamble but, drastic times may justify risky choices. My earlier discounting of Porter due to seeing videos of her at her worst moments was a mistake. She’s the most credible and proven progressive in the race and may be the most deserving of my vote.

I’m still going to wait another week at least to cast my vote using one of the many ballot drop boxes or vote in person on Election Day.
