Editor:
Regarding your “Ignorant Little Snots” and “Uppity, Too” titles in recent “Mailbox” columns (Nov. 18, 25), I ask: What kind of “community” newspaper insults its readers when they take the time to voice their concerns in a letter to the editor?
Regardless of what you think about the letters to the Journal, a true community paper allows its members’ voices to be heard. What better way to shut down communication than by insulting the writer. Be a man and say you’re sorry, Hank Sims.

“What kind of “community” newspaper insults its readers when they take the time to voice their concerns in a letter to the editor?”
The kind of community newspaper whose editor takes criticism up to a very limited point. After that, refer to the dictionary for definitions of “snippy,” “aggrieved,” “vindictive,” “petty,” and finally, “just a plain old asshole.”
I think my former neighbor describeth hisself.
Still your neighbor. Ain’t going away.
Hey, you can dish it out but can’t take it?
What am I dishing out and what am I not taking?
Refer to Sue Buckley’s comment (top).
Did you really think about it before you printed it?
She wrote and sent in what people have been saying privately and publicly for years about you, Hank. It’s apparent that you consider your snarkiness to be a trademark, even badge of honor of sorts. But, seeing how you frequently (consistently) belittle those who respectfully disagree with you, you really have a seem to have a problem with contrariness. No disrespect intended – just saying you should take Sue’s criticism to heart.
No disrespect intended? You called him an asshole 5 posts up.
Not that you don’t make a valid point or the description not fit, but let’s be real.
You really do come off that way Sims.
