Like Joe Biden’s opening salvo, the Rex Bohn cartoon is a tad over the top (Mailbox, April 25). So he made a mild racially sensitive joke. So what!

It’s too bad that today we have to be looking over our shoulders every time we indulge in friendly banter. And it’s a pity that anyone should pay any attention to the correctness police who wake up each morning looking to find something or someone to offend them.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that the people who are after Rex’s head are the same ones who pushed for the McKinley statue to be removed from the Arcata Plaza.

  1. I’m confused. You, Mr. Brown, think that the Rex Bohn cartoon was over the top and believe it’s a pity that anyone pays attention to the correctness police.
And you wrote that “he made a mildly racially sensitive joke. So what!” Aren’t you guilty of the same thing you’re ranting about? It sure sounds like you are the one that woke up and looked for something to be offended about instead of rejecting such insensitive behavior by Mr. Bohn.

  2. “Correctness police”? perhaps just learn to be more empathetic, and polite, especially when you talk about your constituents. This is not just PC, but common sense, and if an elected official has no common sense, he should not be in an official position.
