It is disappointing to see people abandon the principle of free speech. Their certainty that the government and corporate media are always correct is also perplexing (Mailbox, Oct. 3).
Unfortunately, the Democrats’ betrayal of their principles also includes their transformation into warmongers.
Harris is clearly the war machine’s preferred candidate. She has steadfastly demonstrated her allegiance to war, no matter how many civilian deaths, or the threat of the mushroom cloud. People don’t matter, only war profits. No wonder Dick Cheney endorses her.
The fact that only Trump wants to end our proxy war with a nuclear power, while Harris supports the escalating brinkmanship, is shocking.
Harris does not represent you or uphold the principles of the left. If you vote her in now, the Democrats will never run a candidate worthy of your vote.

Dear Amy, Your peace candidate Donald Trump is waging war in the USA on many fronts. He’s waging war against women, and women’s sovereign right to make healthcare decisions about our bodies. Women have died, and almost lost their lives since Trump decimated Roe V Wade. Leaving abortion laws up to individual states is, exactly like leaving the issue of slavery up to individual states. A vote for Trump is throwing all women under the bus.
Donald Trump and his cult is also is waging a xenophobic war, stirring up hatred, spreading ludicrous lies, and inciting violence towards immigrants, the LGBT community, and all non white people. There is a continuing war on school children, and your guy Vance thinks school shootings are a fact of life. One of Trump’s first acts in office was to defund school lunch programs. Tim Walz made sure all kids in Minnesota get fed.
Donald Trump is waging an economic war against working people, tax cuts for billionaires, and more taxes on the poor.
Let’s talk about censorship. Your MAGA pals have managed to ban over ten thousand book titles, in some places up to the college level. Your people have introduced, and even passed “Don’t Say Gay” laws. Trump’s busy bees are working frantically to censor Free Speech in every state by make voting harder, by wiping people off the voter rolls, challenging mail in ballots, eliminating polling places etc.
Your guy Trump just this week has threatened to shut down news stations who make him mad. And if you really want to see where your candidate is headed on censorship take a gander at “Project 2025”
I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
