Editor:

What a treat to see the stack of “Local Lit” books (Sept. 24, 2026) featured on the NCJ cover last week. Books always make great cover models! But, beyond looks, the photo represents an untapped source of extra reading pleasure for those of us lucky enough to live here.

It’s fun to be able to recognize the places where the author is sending his almost identifiable characters — that familiarity makes the reader’s connection to the story even deeper. Stilson Snow’s “Wake Turbulence” is the only one I have read so far; he did a great job, I loved it, and highly recommend.

I am so glad I have more treats in store. Thank you for doing the research and curating my next stash of goodies from the Humboldt County Library.
