I love Dave Silverbrand. I respect his TV work, his compassion and his sense of humor, to be sure. I am surprised and rather taken aback however, at his linkage to the “Media Maven” article (Jan. 6) discussing the lack of local press noting the death of Captain Beefheart (“Mailbox,” Jan. 13).
In his line of reasoning, he invoked KHSU as having a “hemp carpet mentality.” I will surely acknowledge that weed songs were heard on our airwaves, then as now. I played a few myself over the decades. I guess I did not appreciate the connections Dave made, and his bringing KHSU into the fray when we had no dog in Dave’s fight.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
Amy Goodman was on the air a decade before KHSU discovered her!
Goodman filled an auditorium in Eureka while KHSU’s exec. read a remarkable introduction reminiscent of the radical ’60’s, as if KHSU had been “with it” all along.
Ralph Nader called HSU a training academy in harmony ideology.
He sure called that right!
sharon is a pathological liar and creep. she was part of the movement to turn khsu into a mouthpiece of the bod of hsu. she thinks she’s a rebel but she’s really a left-wing nazi, who has ruined the careers of many people who voluteered at khsu.
