Editor:
Your lead article about the Arcata Playhouse was greatly appreciated (“20 Years at the Playhouse,” July 23, 2026). And it rightfully centered on Jacqueline and David. Their work and their commitment to a dream has been tireless. I have to admit, when they started the project I was doubtful that they could bring it to fruition — and make it last. But damn, they sure did.
We are all blessed that there are a few brave souls among us who not only value the arts but are also willing to take on the incredible financial burden of providing an umbrella for truly creative work. And their nurturing support of young artists of every type will hopefully keep Humboldt a magnet for creative souls for generations to come.
Thank you, David and Jacqueline.
Alan Sanborn, Arcata
