Editor:
I attended the Humboldt Association of Realtors on Oct. 1 for the Eureka mayoral and city council candidates. The forum being available via live stream on Facebook was a nice option. Well done, HAR!
The forum itself was like many forums. One thing that stood out was the difference in perspective between the candidates and their experiences of our city. Some of the candidates gave the impression that political office is a figurehead role only, tourism is booming and jobs are plentiful. Other candidates sounded ready to do actual work, addressing issues of homelessness, job training, mental health support, housing assistance and working with industry partners. The moderator did well and kept candidates to their allotted time.
My endorsements are below:
Office of City Council – Ward 1: Victor Garcia
Office of City Council – Ward 3: G. Mario Fernandez
Office of City Council – Ward 5: Kathleen Herrera
Mayor: Anil Dwivedi
Thanks so much.
