  1. …who actually PAYS to have their recycling removed when so many people would be glad to take it off their hands for free??? Or has the city mandated an additional charge, new school mafia style? I’ve never lived in an area where recycling was integral wtih garbage removal.

    Very good comic.

  2. Residents of Eureka pay to have recyclables removed, because the city requires it, since most people are to lazy to lift a finger to recycle. This has reduced our trash volume considerably.

Unfortunately, the thieves reduce the value of our recycling, because they skim all of the good stuff (aluminum, and bottles with redemption value).

  3. This is pretty funny. I think these people are not closing the lid so they know which bins have been hit already.

A couple of years ago, police in Roseville, CA busted some recycling thieves stealing bundled cardboard. Apparently cardboard fetches up to $100/ton and people were just showing up in the middle of the night and taking all of the cardboard recycling. It would seem our local pilferers have yet to discover beige gold.

  4. I’m so glad to live outside the city limits. I can’t believe they charge for something I can take to the recycling center for free!

  5. Eureka style?? Arcata is doing the exact same thing including having Solid Waste of Willits pay to haul their recycling away.

That won’t stop Joel from trying to bash Eureka at any and every opportunity even when he he’s dead wrong.

If you want to place blame (or credit) look no further than the state of California with its mandatory recycling efforts.
